Debbie Scattergood Chastain is a 2nd generation, licensed real estate agent with more than 32 years’ experience in the industry. Debbie was born and raised in Vero Beach where her father owned a real estate firm. Growing up listening to conversations about listings, contracts and closings gave Debbie a wealth of knowledge and a unique understanding of the world of buying and selling real estate. Now an agent herself, with a broker’s license, Debbie is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Vero Beach helping others find their dream home.
Debbie attended college at Chatham Hall in Chatham, Virginia, Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina and finally Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has a Bachelor’s in education, a Master’s in counseling and a 2nd Master’s in Education of Deaf. Debbie enjoyed a successful banking career in New York City before moving back to Vero Beach.
Debbie uses her knowledge of the banking and financial industry to study and understand the current rates, real estate trends and the ever-evolving real estate market. Her organizational skills combined with her attention to detail and white-glove customer service means her clients have a wonderful real estate transaction experience.
Well-traveled and highly-educated, Debbie knows the value of living in a community with cultural amenities and educational opportunities. She takes time to teach potential residents about the many unique communities and neighborhoods including gated & private, golfing, tennis and active adult communities. She is quick to point out the many amenities in Vero Beach, such as museums, community theatre, beaches, parks, fine dining and more.
